excuses for dynamic dancing and exciting music.

Indian Harvest Mela
Fabulous harvest and festival dances from South
and North India feature in the concert. From the
south, performances of folk and tribal dances
celebrating seasonal harvesting followed by the
famous exuberant Punjabi Bhangra dance - the
most popular festival and harvest dance of North
India. Bharathi Dance Group, Sher-E-Punjab

Indian Sunset Concert
Enjoy the last sunset of 2009 at the Hilltop Stage
with a superb concert of Indian music featuring
the Bansuri fute of Vinod Prassana and the sitar of

Insects by night
Come and meet the usually unseen insects
(invertebrates) at Woodfordia, attracted by special
lights at night. Led by Helen Schwencke. Bookings

Iraqi and Türk Mûzikîsi
A concert featuring traditional Iraqi and Turkish
music performed by musicians of international
renown. It includes Iraqi folk and classical music,
the ancient Baghdadi Jewish music traditions of
Pizmonim and Shbahoth and Turkish music of the
Ottoman court. Nawres Al-freh, Kim Curio and
Heather Lee, Tulip Garden.

Irish and Quebecoise Percussive
Unleash your inner rhythm monster with this
workshop for all levels. Learn Irish and Quebecois
step dance styles, basic reel and jig steps, how
to create your own steps and make your feet a
musical instrument. Bring shoes that aren’t too
grippy. Pidgeonwing Strings.

A concert of rocking rhythms and infectious music
from some of Australia’s premier Irish musicians
and dancers presenting lilting, lyrical melodies and
dance incorporating traditional and contemporary

Irish Step Dance Workshop
Learn the basic step dance moves with Irish
Dancing Champion Davydd McDonald - from some
soft and hard shoe techniques to learning a few
quick moves to impress your friends. Great for all
ages and skill levels.
WED The Chameleon 11:15AM
Learn some basic Iyengar yoga and a little about
the different layers of the Iyengar yoga system with
experienced teacher, Clive Farrelly. Bring a mat (or
towel) and water.
SUN MON FRI The Chameleon 8:30AM
Japanese Butoh Workshop
This Butoh workshop includes physical exercises
and exploration of the ethereal body using imagery
from nature, the body of bones and fesh, and
hungry ghosts of Buddhist mythology. It also
includes face and body make-up design and
application. Joan Laage.
TUE The Chameleon 1:30PM
As a prelude to the Procession from Arti.Arti, Joan
Laage performs as Kali, the Hindu mother goddess
noted for her ferocity, wearing a necklace of skulls,
tongue protruding and dancing on a fayed human
skin. Known as both a creator and destroyer.
Black Kali is associated with eternal energy and
considered the goddess of time and change.

for beginners or experienced adults. Or join our

Joke and Choke
The Joke and Choke is back.
This lunchtime comedy event is hosted by
comedians Alan Glover and S Sorrensen. They
talk to each other, the audience and to the
Woodford spirits in an informal, improvised
show that covers all topics from the personal to
the universal to Woodford’s shower system. It’s
funny, spontaneous and just a bit out of control.
The Joke and Choke also features guest
appearances from Woodford acts from all genres
who relish the opportunity to be a part of this
show about nothing.

Kerry and the Couch
Well known ABC journalist and
television presenter Kerry O’Brien
puts festival guests on his Couch
for a closer examination, revealing
their deep psychotic nature and alter
egos. Joining him on Sunday will
be Bill Hauritz, Toni Childs and Sam
Cutler and on Monday Bob Hawke,
Christine Milne and Clive Hamilton.
