Brides of Groove
Brides of Groove are Linsey Pollak on kaossilator and
sax, and Jessica Ainsworth on drums. They play kaoss
electrodance grooves verging on dirty Balkan funk.

Brisbane Celtic Fiddle Club
Fabulous Fiddling, Highland Flings and Irish Dance
Kicks is the Brisbane Celtic Fiddle Club. Fuelled by
fddle tunes and all things Celtic, the group is lead by
the founder, wonderful Scottish Fiddler, Emma Nixon.

Bulgarian Dance Group “Horo”
The group is dedicated to preserving the richness of
their traditional folklore through dance. They perform
a variety of unique traditional Bulgarian dances from

Performing internationally since 1999, Jeff Achtem’s
silent clown character, Mr Bunk, is infuenced by
traditional European street clowning and audience
improvisation. His unique performances are in demand
world-wide and he appears regularly at arts festivals,
variety theatres and cabarets around the globe.

With a handful of shows under their belt, Busby Marou
are making a big impact on the Australian music
scene. Recently supporting Pete Murray, the chemistry

Caren Florance is a book artist who also runs a private
press called Ampersand Duck. She has a strong interest
in making art and craft accessible and is an experienced
teacher in many aspects of artist’s book production.

Carolyn Ritchie has Diplomas of Visual Arts in Fine Arts
and Ceramics. She has presented wheel-thrown pottery
workshops at Woodford for the past two years and is a
member of Art Makers Noosa.

Catherine Mercer founded The Art of Healing magazine,
which successfully contributes to the development
and awareness of Australian Folk Medicine culture.
She brings together a wide network of health care
practitioners and the public in her quarterly publication.

Chloe Hall Trio
Joyful and uplifting. Expect three-part harmony, great
songs and buckets of energy with this engaging and
charismatic alternative folk trio. They have recently
returned from a three month tour of Canada and Europe
to launch Chloe’s exceptional fourth album, Outside.

Chocolate Strings are a 7 piece dance band described
as one of Brisbane’s fnest purveyors of grooved out
dub. Soulful tracks and diverse infuences dish up
a veritable buffet of fresh funk, soul/reggae grooves

Christene Hayes holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from
Newcastle University as well as a Diploma of Visual

Cieavash is an exceptionally talented musician from
Iran. He performs traditional Persian classical (musiqi-e
assil) and regional folk (musiqi-e mahali) music on ney
fute, tar (lute) and kamancheh (spike fddle), as well as
Turkish and Arabic melodies.

Circa has a unique vision of circus as a delightful,
challenging and contemporary artform. Circa runs year-
round circus training programs in Brisbane and beyond.
This Woodford Folk Festival, Circa’s aerial trainers are
working with Circadia to present try-as-you-fy training
for beginner and experienced adults.

Circus vs Sideshow
ThisSideUp acrobatics will be joined by a classy
cacophony of motley musicians and salty sideshow
dogs to bring you the ultimate battle of the entertainers.
Circus, sideshow and music face-off in an unpredictable
evening of high level mischief.

Clare is best known as a folk favoured songwriting
original who has released a slew of fantastic, thoughtful
and cohesive albums through Capital Records/EMI.
She has won Australia’s ARIA Award for best female
talent in 2006, was nominated twice in 2008, was
runner up in the International Songwriting Competition
in the singer/songwriter category, has played every
major festival in Australia, sold a stack of records and
is generally loved and admired as much for her charm
and leadership as her music everywhere she goes.
